"Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own;
and from morning to night, as from the cradle to the grave,
it is but a succession of changes so gentle and easy that we can scarcely mark their progress."

(Charles Dickens)

Though the summer winds down, in this pause before fall comes one of the year's most splendid times for taking photographs with the lowering angle of the sun's light here.

September 30th: Last day of what seems to have been a very wet month. It took two trips outside in the chilly dampness to properly capture this tenacious little droplet. It must have really wanted its 15 minutes of fame, for it waited patiently for me to go through the first set of shots and realize another attempt was needed.

Another view, which I debated for some time as using for today's daily, is here: http://sciurusniger.smugmug.com/gallery/1787893/1/98913726/Large

September 29th: Blah, blah day but little Alexander is a little better and oh-so-terribly cute when sleeping oh-so-contentedly after eating.

My Big Excitement for the day, while not worthy of being the daily, is worth mentioning: http://sciurusniger.smugmug.com/gallery/1823153/1/98807005

September 28th: A truly splendid find while driving home during the bright light late this afternoon.

September 27th: Chrysanthemum buds at my mother's house on a rainy evening.

September 26th: In class all day, my run to Subway for lunch was indeed fulfilling! Found this little guy in the weeds of the parking lot.

One of those weeds is here: http://sciurusniger.smugmug.com/gallery/1888632/1/98184979

There was also a cool fragmented bit of rainbow this morning that I caught a tad too late: http://sciurusniger.smugmug.com/gallery/1888632/1/98184980

September 25th: "California Dreamin' "

All the leaves are not yet brown, and the sky was only grey off and on today, but the clematis knows what is to come and so soaks up the warm brightness on top of the flag pole.

More clematis shots are here: http://sciurusniger.smugmug.com/gallery/1787893

And something entirely different this morning is here: http://sciurusniger.smugmug.com/gallery/1779460/1/97914352/Large

September 24th: The morning hint of brightness quickly turned grey and threatening, so it looks like the early bird gets the shot today.

This is the much-loved yet oft-cursed grapevine ivy that shades the west side of my house. It's resemblance to an alien visitor hints of its voracious spirit!

September 23rd: The first day of fall dawned warm, grey, and very, very wet. It appeared as if the pines in my backyard were full of night tears for the passing of summer.

The runner-up photo for today was this interesting capture:

And I finally got my rose: http://sciurusniger.smugmug.com/gallery/1787893/1/97289066/Large

September 22nd: Grey, drizzly, busy day utterly lacking in inspiration. So here is a front foot of the latest arrival after his evening feeding; a 6-7 week old orphaned baby fox squirrel who fell 100 feet from his nest and is slowly recovering from some serious head trauma.

There are a couple other photos of him here: http://sciurusniger.smugmug.com/gallery/1779124

September 21st: Rise and shine, Tommy!

I caught him just before he stretched into this full yawn, too: http://sciurusniger.smugmug.com/gallery/1823153

I also got some great flower shots later in the afternoon: http://sciurusniger.smugmug.com/gallery/1805612/1/96980139
