May 31st: Pipsqueak, a spring baby pine squirrel, doing what pine squirrels do best...looking goofy.

So says Callie, a recently released pine squirrel.

May 26th: An early morning shower left the Dutch irises my neighbor planted on their side of my house quite literally dripping with brilliant color when the sun finally poked out.

May 23rd: Awoke to find this little visitor on the patio door....

May 22nd: The wee orphaned fox squirrel I photographed last December was captured along with her brother and spent the winter living out back in one of the big pre-release pens. They never did calm down in the presence of any human (a good thing) and often assumed this bat-like, ready-to-flee posture at feeding time.

This was taken the day before the pen door was opened so that they could, at last, reclaim their birthright in full and vibrant health.
