August 8th: Late this very warm and very muggy afternoon, Eleanor and her daughter were flopped in the backyard. I politely asked Eleanor if she'd pose for me before getting treats and this was her response.

January 9, 2009: Squirrel toes&nbspThis young fox squirrel dug up one of the (great number) of decorative gourds I brought home with all of the pumpkins on Halloween night. We had to toss all of them out into the yard and while the pumpkins are deflated history, the tougher cases of the gourds make for good snowstorm pickings. And good photo ops!

July 27, 2008: Day late and a dollar short. I forgot the darned mini-challenge ended on Friday instead of tonight like the regular one. Oh well, I needed a new bio pic anyway....

November 25, 2008: Finally! After days of watching them dart in and out and flat-out vanish at the sight of the camera, I caught one of the little stinkers in the pumpkin during today's drizzly gloom.

August 2, 2008: Portrait of one of my favorite backyard mercenaries, White Toes.

November 8, 2008: I was waiting for the sun to poke through the incoming clouds to take a birdbath shot when I turned and spotted this little stinker watching me.

December 22, 2008: Shot using the (running) car window as a tripod while out doing errands this evening.

August 17, 2008: Patiently waiting for wings to dry on a warm summer night.

December 1, 2008: My most favorite harvest feast: sweet potato and butternut squash soup; delicately spiced with ginger and fresh-cracked pepper, rich with white cheddar cheese, and garnished with pine nuts & roasted pumpkin seeds. (Obviously, it was an utterly photo-op-less day but I so rarely have time to cook any more it seemed worth recording today's efforts.)

August 22, 2008: Hot, hot, hot day and the deep shade of the big maple didn't seem to provide much relief to the juvie red tail hawk.
